| dc.description | The present thesis, entitled "The depiction of mental illness in the literary character, through cases of modern Greek literary texts, from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century", examines and analyzes 16 texts of modern Greek literature and through content analysis method, deconstructs their content and specifically the depiction of mental illness in their characters and divides the findings into the following 5 fundamental categories: etiology and interpretation of mental illness, characteristics of literary characters with mental illness, mental illness symptoms, the relationship between the literary "madman" and his society and narrative choices. At the same time, this thesis attempts to highlight the identification or deviation of the characters with mental illness in the literary works examined. Finally, some conclusions are drawn from the data collected from the research and it has been found, that the depiction of mental illness in literary works depends on the sum of various factors, such as the medical perception regarding mental illness, the social perceptions regarding the mentally ill, the literary movement, from which its text is influenced by and the narrative choices of each author. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία με τίτλο «Η απεικόνιση της ψυχικής ασθένειας στον λογοτεχνικό χαρακτήρα μέσα από περιπτώσεις νεοελληνικών λογοτεχνικών κειμένων από τα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα έως τις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα», εξετάζει και αναλύει 16 κείμενα της νεοελληνικής λογοτεχνίας και μέσω της μεθόδου ανάλυσης περιεχομένου (content analysis), αποδομεί το περιεχόμενό τους και συγκεκριμένα την απεικόνιση της ψυχικής ασθένειας στους χαρακτήρες τους και χωρίζει τα ευρήματα στις εξής 5 θεμελιακές κατηγορίες: αιτιολογία και ερμηνεία της ψυχικής ασθένειας, χαρακτηριστικά ηρώων με ψυχική ασθένεια, συμπτωματολογία ψυχικής ασθένειας, οι σχέσεις του λογοτεχνικού «τρελού» με την κοινωνία και αφηγηματικές επιλογές. Παράλληλα, γίνεται απόπειρα ανάδειξης της ταύτισης ή της απόκλισης, που εμφανίζει η παρουσίαση των χαρακτήρων με ψυχική ασθένεια στα υπό εξέταση κείμενα. Τέλος, διατυπώνονται συμπεράσματα σχετικά με τα στοιχεία που συλλέχθηκαν από την έρευνα και διαπιστώνεται, πως η απεικόνιση της ψυχικής ασθένειας στα λογοτεχνικά έργα εξαρτάται από το άθροισμα διαφόρων παραγόντων, όπως η ιατρική αντίληψη που κυριαρχεί κάθε εποχή σχετικά με την ψυχική ασθένεια, οι κοινωνικές αντιλήψεις γύρω από τους ψυχικά ασθενείς, το λογοτεχνικό ρεύμα από το οποίο είναι επηρεασμένο κάθε κείμενο και τέλος οι αφηγηματικές επιλογές του εκάστοτε συγγραφέα. | en_US |
