| dc.description.abstract | Η διατριβή μου εξετάζει την έννοια της ‘transgressive tv’ και αμφισβητεί τον γενικό όρο ‘quality tv’. Μέσα από αναλύσεις θεωρητικών και συγκεκριμένα παραδείγματα θα επιχειρήσω να στηρίξω τον όρο “transgressive tv” ως έναν όρο πιο εύστοχο και πιο αντιπροσωπευτικό για την εποχή μας. Μετά από μια σύντομη εισαγωγή της έννοιας της “transgressive tv” και συζήτηση γύρω από τον όρο “quality tv”, επικεντρώνομαι στις παραβάσεις που κάνουν οι συγγραφείς του πιλοτικού επεισοδίου του πρωτοποριακού τηλεοπτικού σίριαλ Twin Peaks που προβλήθηκε στο ABC το 1990. Από την πληθώρα παραβάσεων που έχουν σχολιάσει πολλοί κριτικοί θα επικεντρωθώ μόνο σε αυτές που συνδέονται με την απόπειρα πιλοτικού επεισοδίου του σίριαλ Cahul που συνέγραψα και κατέθεσα ως μέρος της μεταπτυχιακής μου διατριβής. Επέλεξα το Twin Peaks επειδή είναι από τα πρώτα σίριαλ, αν όχι το πρώτο, που έπαιξε τόσο θαρραλέα με τις συμβάσεις της γλώσσας της τηλεόρασης και των σίριαλ συγκεκριμένα. Αυτό το σίριαλ σημάδεψε μια εποχή μετά τη δεκαετία του 1990 και προετοίμασε το έδαφος για πολλούς άλλους συγγραφείς και δίκτυα ώστε να αφηγηθούν περίπλοκες ιστορίες που ανέβασαν τον πήχη των τηλεοπτικών σίριαλ όπως τα γνωρίζουμε πλέον σήμερα. Όσον αφορά το True Detective βρίσκω ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέρον τις “χωρικές παραβάσεις” του είδους που έκανε ο συγγραφέας.
My thesis examines the concept of 'transgressive tv' and questions the general term 'quality tv'. Through analysis of theorists and concrete examples, I will try to support the term "transgressive TV" as a more appropriate and representative term for our time. After a brief introduction to the concept of “transgressive tv” and a short debate of the term “quality tv,” I will focus on the transgressions made by the writers of the pilot episode of the groundbreaking TV series Twin Peaks that aired on ABC in 1990 and True Detective. From the multitude of transgressions that have been commented upon by many critics I will focus only on those connected with the attempted pilot episode of the serial Cahul that I wrote and submitted as part of my master's thesis. I chose Twin Peaks because it is one of the first series, if not the first, to play so boldly with the conventions of the language of television and series in particular. This series marked an era after the 1990s and set the stage for many other writers and networks to tell complex stories that raised the bar for soap operas as we know them today. Regarding True Detective, I find particularly interesting the "spatial transgressions" of the genre made by the author. | en_US |
