dc.description.abstract | The present thesis examines school leadership as a factor of effectiveness in the
school unit. The main objective of the study is to analyze the contribution and role of
school leadership in enhancing the effectiveness of the school unit. For my bachelor's
thesis, scientific texts, articles, books, and other scholarly sources on the subject under
study were gathered and analyzed. Through the investigation, it was found that
leadership involves the influence exerted by an individual on a group of people with
the aim of achieving their common goal, and the person guiding the group is called a
"Leader". School leadership and the school leader are of equal importance, integrated
within the framework of the school environment. A school leader is not limited to a
single leadership style but adapts their style according to circumstances, utilizing
directive and supportive behaviors. There are various leadership styles, including
democratic-participative, traditional-authoritarian, distributive, transactional, and
transformational. Factors determining leadership style include the experiences and
skills of the director-leader, subordinates, and the specific situation. School leaders
have many roles and duties. According to Mintzberg, the roles of directors are divided
into interpersonal, informational, and decisional. Additionally, the school director is
responsible for the smooth operation of the school, compliance with laws and
regulations, and the implementation of decisions made by the teaching staff
association. They also participate in evaluating educators and collaborate with school
counselors. Effectiveness in schools focuses on successfully achieving organizational
goals. There are various effectiveness models such as the internal processes model,
the human relations model, the open systems model, and the rational goals model.
Furthermore, school management, culture and climate, as well as the high
expectations held by educators and the director for student performance, are key
factors influencing school effectiveness. School leadership has the ability to influence
school reality and contribute to the creation of an effective school unit in many ways,
such as guiding and determining policy, creating culture and climate, training and
development of personnel, community participation, innovation in teaching, and
change management. Additionally, leaders through their participation in training
seminars, the development of their communication skills, and the enhancement of
their personality can strengthen their effectiveness and guide others towards achieving
common goals. In conclusion, school leadership is the most crucial factor for the
effectiveness of the school unit. | en_US |
